    Anna Grant

    Educator and Maths Teacher

I have experience of working with people of all ages in a wide range of informal and formal educational settings.  This first began working as an au pair, then English language teaching in the UK, Russia and Japan, moving into Primary teaching, supporting children in school and more recently working with Post  Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) university students. I enjoy finding out what suits each individual to help them learn in a way that works for them, and watching them engage, thrive and develop confidence.  I have worked with adults and children with a range of learning needs, including autism, ADHD and dyslexia, and believe in the importance of stimulating curiosity, creativity and fun, rooted in a supportive and student-centred pedagogic practice.

As a lifelong learner, I really enjoy developing new skills and ideas.  I have a degree in French and Russian, an MA in Children’s Literature where I engaged in a project supporting reading for pleasure, and have worked as a Maths Specialist Teacher, supporting teachers, students and children to enjoy Maths through problem-solving, practical and real-life approaches.

Apart from my professional life, I like to take time for myself, as mental and physical wellbeing is so valuable. To keep fit and healthy I love swimming and cycling, and I practice Pilates, qi gong, yoga and sometimes ballet.  Other activities which bring me joy are writing, creating embroideries and tapestries, playing piano, travelling, visiting museums and galleries, learning languages and good food.
