Leslie Orozco
Teacher & Creative Designer
With a diverse background in both design and education, I bring a unique perspective to my work with the Neurodiversity Family Hub. Having earned a BA in Industrial Design, I began my career in creative fields driven by a passion for problem-solving and user-centred design.
However, my passion for education has always been strong. From 2013 to 2020, I worked as an English Language Teacher in Mexico, where I designed and delivered inclusive learning experiences for diverse learners. My teaching style was shaped by my deep commitment to understanding my students’ unique needs, ensuring that they felt heard, supported, and empowered to achieve their potential. During this time, I worked with students of all ages, from young learners to adults, in a variety of settings.
In addition to my professional work, I have always had a personal connection to neurodiversity. As someone who is neurodivergent myself, I know firsthand how critical it is to create supportive environments where every learner feels seen and heard. My experiences in both design and education have shaped my approach: I treat each interaction as an opportunity to listen, adapt, and offer solutions tailored to individual needs.
I’m also deeply committed to maintaining my own physical and mental well-being through activities like yoga, running and dance. This helps me bring a holistic approach to my work with young people, where I encourage not just academic growth, but overall well-being.
At the Neurodiversity Family Hub, I’m excited to contribute my experience in both user-centred design and inclusive teaching to help neurodiverse youth and their families thrive.
