Nexus Tribe’s Career Development Day: A Step Towards a Brighter Future
Nexus Tribe is the Neurodiversity Family Hub's dedicated social and career development program for young people aged 16 to 25. The program blends engaging outings with career reflection sessions to help participants explore their interests, build confidence, and take actionable steps toward their future goals.
As part of our commitment to empowering these young people, we recently held a career-focused session with Danielle Hewlett Boyle, an experienced careers professional who has worked extensively with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Danielle’s role as Careers Lead for the Impact Multi Academy Trust, overseeing two secondary schools in Bromley, made her an invaluable mentor for our group. Rather than just offering generic advice, Danielle took the time to understand each participant’s unique interests, passions, and aspirations, guiding them toward potential career paths that align with who they are. Through interactive activities and personalised guidance, she helped our participants explore their options and build confidence in their next steps.
The atmosphere was one of focused determination, with participants asking thoughtful questions about their future careers and expressing their hopes and concerns. Danielle provided practical advice and clear steps to help them move forward, making it clear that professionals are out there who are ready to support them on their journey. As Fuaad shared, "What stood out the most was seeing the results, finally feeling like I'm heading somewhere."
A key highlight of the session was the opportunity for the young men to work on their CVs and personal statements. With laptops set up, our team guided them through the process, ensuring that by the end of the day, they were better prepared to seize upcoming opportunities. Stephan expressed his appreciation, saying, "It was very nice to meet and chat with [Danielle]. She's proud of us for organizing our CVs and internships. We did some questionnaires related to job tasks, and I was honest about needing support sometimes. But I feel more confident now."
This session underscored the importance of providing young people with the right resources and support as they navigate the often-challenging transition from education to employment. It’s about more than just finding a job - it’s about building a future they can be proud of.
We are deeply grateful to Danielle Hewlett Boyle for her time, expertise, and dedication to our participants. Her guidance has inspired our young people to keep pushing toward their goals, taking practical steps toward their futures.
At the Neurodiversity Family Hub, this is exactly what we strive for: creating meaningful opportunities that empower young people to take control of their futures. We are incredibly proud of what our Nexus Tribe participants achieved during this session, and we are excited to continue supporting them on their journey.
To our donors, families, and community supporters: thank you for making sessions like this possible. Your support is shaping the futures of these incredible young people.
We are thrilled to announce that the next cycle of Nexus Tribe will be running from September. If you or someone you know is interested in joining a supportive community focused on social connection and career development, we encourage you to sign up and be part of this empowering journey. Together, we can continue to make a real difference.
Let’s keep moving forward, one step at a time.
