We are currently recruiting SEND Play Workers to facilitate our after-school club. Read on to find out more about what this involves before you apply.
What is our after-school club?
Our club, based in Mint Street Adventure Playground in Borough, takes place on Thursday evenings in term time, and offers a safe and quiet after-school space for Neurodiverse children and young people.
The club runs in a private space upstairs, where we provide young people with a range of activities, from board games to arts and crafts – or they can just chill. We also enjoy access to the playground at certain points.
Our beneficiaries range in age from 6 to 18, with special education needs and difficulties such as social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH), speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) including Autism, ADHD, and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD). We have an open policy for parents to stay and play, fostering the family environment in all we do.

As you enter the room you will see a board game station, an arts and crafts station, and a comfy corner with cushions and fidgety toys.
At the first table, a group of people are playing Rummikub, for example. Rummikub is a tile-based game that combines elements of rummy and mahjong. It is clearly a great source of entertainment and enjoyment and we can see the bonding among the players. It gives them a break from screens and technology and allows them to benefit from face-to-face interaction and socialisation.
At the next table, Kiran is enjoying modelling clay. Letting their imagination run wild with the clay.
Meanwhile, Talhulla is comfortably curled up on a cushion, relaxing after a stressful day at home.
We strive to create a space for everyone to be who they are, with no masking, no judgment, and no pressure.
How this fits into our vision and our mission
We are passionate women whose vision is to cultivate an environment that is supportive, inclusive, and empowering for Neurodiverse individuals. Through our after-school club, we are committed to providing a safe space for young Neurodiverse individuals who may be misunderstood and marginalised due to their unique traits.
Where do you fit in
We are looking for a Manager to play a vital role in planning, preparing, and delivering these activities, actively engaging with the young people who attend and providing one-to-one care and support, embracing our mission and our values.
We are also recruiting an Assistant to support the manager in these important duties.
