Feel the Force! A Hands-On Science Adventure

-

Join us for an inclusive science day mixing outdoor movement with indoor experiments. Young people will explore how their bodies use energy, discover invisible forces, and enjoy a gentle, hands-on science show designed to build confidence and curiosity.

11-12:00pm : We will start the day with an outdoor science activity in the park, exploring the science of our muscles and our body. Through gentle movement, games, and short challenges, young people will discover how their muscles work, how their heart and breathing change when we move, and why nutrition, hydration, and rest are important for our bodies. This activity is movement-based, non-competitive, and adapted so everyone can take part at their own pace.

12:00-13:00 Lunch with games

13:00-14:30
We will then move indoors for a mini science show led by Emilia Angelillo our scientist in residence for the day (discover her on instagram: @emilia.science)! Using fun and engaging demonstrations such as the Airzooka and simple science “magic” tricks, young people will explore invisible forces like air and energy, and learn how science explains things that can sometimes look like magic.

After the show, young people will take part in a hands-on science activity, where they will:
- Explore static electricity by making small objects move or lift using electrical charge, or
- Create a simple potato battery, using a potato, wires, and nails to generate energy and light an LED

14:30-16:00: Outdoor fun or indoor games

Throughout the day, activities will be sensory-aware, inclusive, and SEND-friendly, with clear explanations, movement breaks, and support from trained staff. The focus will be on curiosity, enjoyment, and confidence rather than getting things “right”.
