A New Year for Tiny Tribe
Tiny Tribe is our weekly group for children aged 0–5 and their families, offering play, learning, and community every Wednesday. In this article, we share how the group prepares for the year ahead, the inclusive and diverse spirit that makes it unique, the support it offers to parents as well as children, and the special sense of community that continues to grow year after year.
Fresh Beginnings
Before the start of every school year, Susan Young, our dedicated coordinator of Tiny Tribe, carefully cleans each toy, ensuring they are fresh and ready for the children to enjoy. This simple act of care marks the return to a community that has been lovingly built over the years. The toys may be the same, but they carry the joy and stories of every child who has played with them — now prepared for new beginnings.
What is Tiny Tribe?

Tiny Tribe is our weekly group for children aged 0–5 and their parents or carers. Every Wednesday, families gather in a warm, safe, and welcoming environment to play, learn, and connect. With Susan’s 19 years of early years experience guiding the group, the sessions focus on learning through play, using a wide variety of toys that encourage sensory development. While the children are busy exploring, parents can take a breath, enjoy a crossword, do some colouring, or simply relax with the all-important cup of tea.
An Inclusive and Diverse Community
What makes Tiny Tribe so special is the inclusive and welcoming spirit that has grown within it. We offer tailored support for neurodiverse children, ensuring they have the environment they need to thrive, while also opening our doors to every family who seeks a space to play and belong. This diversity strengthens the bonds between children and parents alike, helping friendships to form that often continue as families move on into local schools. We also celebrate the cultural richness of our area — from Eid to Christmas, every festival that matters to our community is embraced with joy.
Support for Parents Too
Tiny Tribe is not only for children — it is equally a place of support for parents and carers. Conversations flow about everything from potty training to healthy eating to preparing children for school. Many parents share how much they gain from the group’s openness and encouragement. One mother described how, despite the daily exhaustion of childcare, she never misses Tiny Tribe because of the positivity it brings and the sense of lightness she feels when leaving. This reflects what Tiny Tribe truly is: a community space that nurtures adults just as much as it does children.
The Power of Community
Each new year at Tiny Tribe brings both goodbyes and fresh hellos. We wave off children starting school while welcoming new babies and their families into the fold. It is a constant cycle of growth, change, and belonging — a true reflection of community life. Above all, Tiny Tribe remains a place to learn, to play, to share, and to find joy together.
