Stand With Kiki Fund: SEND Advocacy!

We are proud to announce the launch of the Stand With Kiki Fund. We are raising money for a young child in our community who has recently left school following a safeguarding incident. This fund will raise the money she needs for SEND advocacy. In the long run we hope it will help other children afford the help they need.

Kiki's Story

Kiki is eleven years old. She is autistic, bright, thoughtful and the kind of child who tries to do the right thing even when no one is watching. Her teachers always describe her as a joy to teach, someone who engages with her learning, follows the rules and brings quiet kindness into every room she enters. School was her happy place. It was where she felt safe, understood and confident.

Everything changed very suddenly.

What Happened to Kiki

Not long ago, Kiki was involved in a serious incident with other pupils at school. She protected herself and did exactly what children are told to do. She reported what happened straight away. But the safeguarding response that followed did not give her the protection, reassurance or understanding she desperately needed.

Since that moment, she has not been able to return to school.

For her parents, watching their daughter go from feeling secure and settled to feeling frightened and unsure has been heartbreaking. Kiki loved school. She loved her lessons. She loved belonging to a place that felt predictable and safe. Losing that sense of safety overnight would be overwhelming for any child. For an autistic child, it can be devastating.

Like many autistic children, Kiki pours enormous effort into navigating social situations that can sometimes feel confusing or unpredictable. When she is hurt or frightened she often keeps those emotions inside, trying quietly to cope on her own. This can make it harder for adults to notice that she is struggling. What happened at school did not just shock her. It shook the foundation she relied on every day.

Right now the most important thing is helping Kiki feel safe again and ensuring that she receives the support she needs to recover emotionally while her education is being sorted out.

Why Your Support Is Needed

Kiki’s family is now having to navigate complicated education and safeguarding systems so that what happened is properly addressed and so that she receives appropriate support. They are working to secure tutoring and educational help while her school situation is resolved. They also want to make sure she has access to therapeutic support if she needs it.

Funds raised will go toward specialist SEND advocacy and case support, safeguarding escalation and evidence preparation, interim tutoring, education support and therapeutic care.

Kiki is also a Black child and her family are acutely aware that children from minority backgrounds are not always fully understood within complex educational processes. Ensuring that her voice is heard clearly and that her needs are recognised is essential. The support raised here will help her family make sure she receives fair treatment and strong advocacy at every stage.

No family should have to face something like this alone. The emotional burden is heavy. The financial strain is real. This fundraiser will help lift some of that weight so Kiki’s family can focus on what truly matters, which is rebuilding her sense of safety and restoring her confidence.

Any funds raised beyond what Kiki needs will go into the Stand With Kiki Fund, managed by The Neurodiversity Family Hub CIC. This fund will support other neurodivergent children and families who may also find themselves facing an education or safeguarding crisis.
