The role is part of our service in the Family hub. The role is linked to an after-school club for children (from 6 years old to 11 years old - from 3:30pm until 5pm) and young People (from 11 to 18 years old from 3:30pm until 6:15pm).

Under the supervision of the manager, you will, as a play worker SEND assistant, play a vital role in facilitating young neurodiverse individuals to participate in our after-school Clubs on a Thursday evening. The NDFH after-school club consists of offering a safe and quiet after-school space for Neurodiverse children and young people.

We run from Mint Street Adventure Playground (SE1 1QU - London) with a private space upstairs with access to the playground at certain points. We invite young people to just chill, play some board games, do some arts and crafts and learn to socialise in a safe environment.

In this position, you will actively engage with young people with special education needs and difficulties such as social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH), speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) including Autism, ADHD and Specific Learning Difficulites (SpLD).

Your responsibilities extend to offering one-to-one support, ensuring the physical, social, and emotional welfare of each child, and fostering children’s growth, self-esteem, and independence. Your role contributes significantly to the overall success of our after-school club, making a positive impact on the lives of young people with diverse needs.
